AES Conference 2017

From April 24th to 26th, the 91st Agricultural Economics Society Conference took place in Dublin, Ireland. Taking note of the current political situation, workshops and plenary discussions focused on Brexit and the influences on the agricultural sector, including agri-food sector responses and tactics, impacts and opportunities for rural economies and communities, and environmental challenges and prospects both within the UK and across Europe. Parallel sessions also focused on topics such as environmental sustainability, development economics, technology adoption and consumer preferences. In the latter category Dr. Chad M. Baum, from his article “In vitro-meat and information frames: Exploring the influence of different problem contexts on consumer acceptance”, and Carolin Kamrath, from her paper “Is food involvement always low? Involvement and purchasing motives of dietary supplements”, presented work from the Chair of Technology and Innovation Management in Agribusiness.

Emerging from a very competitive field, we are pleased to announce that Carolin Kamrath was also awarded the honor of the “Best PhD talk 2017” at the Conference. Our heartfelt congratulations are extended to Carolin.
